Senior Sustainability Consultant

Position: Full-time

Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)

Annual Leave: 25 days (excluding UK Bank Holidays)

Location: Woking, Surrey

Purpose of Role

Delivering high-quality services to existing clients and to grow the business.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sustainability support to clients in a wide range of areas including:

    • Creating compelling sustainability / CSR strategies, carrying out materiality reviews, peer reviews and benchmarking exercises as well as setting robust objectives, targets and action plans

    • Developing and delivering GHG inventories and to identify carbon reduction opportunities

    • Compiling leading responses to reporting schemes such as GRESB, EPRA, CDP etc.

    • Advising clients on sustainable design/construction features for new and existing developments

    • Supporting clients in completing BREEAM assessments and achieving certification

  • Developing, selling and delivering existing and new sustainability consulting services, working directly with clients throughout this process

  • Independently engage with a wide variety of clients, often in senior roles

  • Attend client meetings, where necessary, to develop opportunities and support project delivery

  • Prepare technical reports for clients

  • Manage multiple projects independently, with minimal supervision, to meet tight deadlines

Requirements and Skills:

  • Strong consultancy experience in delivering environmental & sustainability projects

  • A degree in an environmental or engineering discipline, preferably to Masters level

  • Strong understanding and experience of environmental/carbon/energy legislation 

  • Strong communication and consulting skills; particularly an understanding of the sustainability challenges that organisations face in today’s climate.

  • Experience handling and interpreting large data sets and contextualising sustainability performance data (advanced user in Excel)

  • Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external clients

  • Attention to detail and accuracy, in written, visual and numeric work

  • Ability to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary

  • Professional member of IEMA (or similar)
